Details on applications can be found online at www.pathway.oriel.nhs.uk
Dates for last years application process (2019/20) can be found below and may be a useful guideline for the coming year:
7th November 2019
Applications Opened
Scored 'self assessment questions' via an online application form. During your interview, interviewers will check your application form against your portfolio to confirm that your self assessment is correct. You will be asked to talk about and expand on items in your portfolio and items that you, or your interviewer may choose to highlight. These questions are there to give you a chance to highlight your strong points. The more time you spend beforehand considering what makes you a good candidate, the more highly you will score at this stage. The points that are raised by your panel as a result of your 'self assessment
questions' will contribute towards your portfolio station mark. However, your self assessment score will only be used to differentiate between tied scores after interview. Probity is of the utmost importance. Anything that you say on your self assessment form should be verifiable.
29th November 2019
Online Applications Closed
You will be asked to rank all jobs in your chosen deanery in order of preference. All the available posts will have different hospital/specialty combinations and these combinations will be different for all deaneries. These posts will be allocated in the same way as for Foundation Programme applications. At this stage, you will need to decide the importance of location or specialty choice. Some candidates will have a definite specialty preference at this stage. Far more will still be unsure. If you do have a couple of possible specialties in mind, it is important that you select these for your Core programme, as many will have a minimum requirement for the number of months that you have spent in them at CT1/CT2 to ensure eligibility for ST3 and beyond.
Interviews held (Previous years were from approx. Monday 23 January - mid February but this may change!!)
In 2020 all CST interviews will be held at a national selection centre over a 12 day period from 23 January - 10rd February 2020. Applicants will attend a single national interview and will be eligible to preference all available posts at all participating deaneries.
